Tour of 427 Special Operations Aviation Squadron - 15 Dec 10

Our squadron has been invited to tour 427 Special Operations Aviation Squadron on 15 Dec 10. 427 Squadron is equipped with the CH-146 Griffon helicopter.The Squadron serves Canadian Special Operations Command (CANSOFCOM) by providing an aviation capability to all the units within this command. It also serves Army operations by providing tactical airlift of troops and equipment, casualty evacuation and logistical support, and supports search and rescue operations in central Canada when required.

The cadets are to be dropped off at 427 Squadron by 6:30pm and will be dismissed by 9:00 pm. To drive to 427 Squadron enter at the main gate of CFB Petawawa via Petawawa Blvd. Travel on this road (it becomes Menin road upon entering the base) past the four way stop. Make a right onto Paschendale Road (past the fuel pumps). Follow this road for awhile, down the hill and around the curve until meeting the gate and security for 427 Sqn.

Cadets are to dress in uniform, being sure to bring their cadet parka, cadet toque, and plain black gloves. Cadets who do not have an issued parka are to wear a civilian jacket over their uniform.

Due to the strict security in place at 427 Squadron, no electronic devices (cell phones, ipods, cameras) are permitted. These items are to be left at home.
