What is the Air Cadet Program?

The Royal Canadian Air Cadets is one of Canada’s largest national youth organizations, with nearly 30, 000 cadets in over 450 squadrons coast to coast.  It is supported largely by the civilian Air Cadet League of Canada through its provincial committees and local sponsoring organizations, in partnership with the Canadian Forces.  Membership in Air Cadets does not mean that that your son/daughter is a member of the Canadian Forces, and there is no obligation for military service involved.

The mission of the cadet program is to contribute to the development and preparation of youth for the transition to adulthood, enabling them to meet the challenges of modern society, through a dynamic, community-based program. The aim of the Air Cadet program is to develop in youth the attributes of good citizenship and leadership, promote physical fitness and stimulate the interest of youth in the air activities of the Canadian Forces. We seek to guide each cadet in setting and achieving personal goals or self-discipline, self-esteem, personal management and leadership.  Through guidance we strive to demonstrate and instil high standards of citizenship, honour, duty and personal responsibility.  Our motto says it all: to learn, to serve, to advance.
